Cozy vibes: This mug carries the feeling of arriving somewhere you have always wanted to go. A cottage at the end of a long lane, flowers growing over the wall, something warm waiting inside. There is a quietness to this piece that deepens the longer you sit with it. The blush sky, the drifting birds, the slightly unruly garden, all of it painted by hand with a looseness that makes the scene feel alive rather than posed. Fill it and carry it somewhere soft. A hand-shaped handleless mug with a soft, rounded form that narrows gently at the top, giving it an almost egg-like silhouette that sits comfortably in one hand. The surface of the clay itself has been worked with small impressed dimples that catch the light and give the piece a tactile quality, a reminder before you even look at the painting that this was made entirely by hand. The entire surface is painted as a single continuous scene that wraps all the way around. A cream stone cottage with a brown pitched roof sits behind a low grey stone wall, smoke rising faintly from the chimney. Flowering bushes spill up on either side, painted in loose greens and mauves and reds, full and overgrown in the way of a garden that has been loved for a long time. Small birds drift across a blush and peach sky above the rooftline, the whole upper half of the mug washed in that particular warm pink that belongs to either early morning or late evening, the hours when everything looks a little softer. Every brushstroke was placed by hand, and turning the mug slowly reveals how the scene shifts and breathes as it wraps around the form. Designed to hold ~250 ml (8.5 oz) comfortably.

About the artist: This piece was made by Esra from her home studio in Adana, a sunny city on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Drawn to archaeology from an early age, she started by making home décor objects inspired by artifacts from the ancient world. Objects that had survived centuries because they meant something to the people who made and used them. And she found herself wondering what that really meant. What makes something worth keeping? Over time, she found her answer in the everyday. She began making pieces designed to be held, used, and loved in the small rituals of daily life.
But what truly shapes Esra's work is storytelling. Trained in literature, she approaches each design the way a writer approaches a scene, with intention, with character, with a world the viewer can step into. The black cat watching sheep graze through a window. The cozy library glimpsed from a garden wall. The cottage at golden hour with birds lifting off into a pink sky.
Esra's deepest motivation is that objects can connect us. That something made in one place, by one set of hands, can become part of someone else’s daily ritual. Each piece extends that thread, linking lives and stories across distance.
