There is a groundedness to this piece, something in the weight of the color and the solidity of the form that makes everything feel a little more settled. Fill it with something dark and warming, a spiced tea, a rich hot chocolate, an after dinner coffee, and just sit with it for a while. Some mugs are cheerful. This one is steady.
A tall, handleless ceramic glazed in a deep, rich terracotta brown that shifts in the light from warm mahogany to something closer to dark chocolate. The form is what makes this piece truly special. Rather than a traditional cylindrical shape, the clay has been hand-pressed and folded so that a soft vertical panel wraps around the body, creating a gentle ridge that your fingers naturally find when you hold it. The glaze pools slightly in the folds and catches the light differently depending on the angle, giving the surface a quiet depth that flat glazes simply cannot replicate. Handleless and intentional, this is a mug that asks you to hold it properly, with both hands, which turns out to be exactly the right way to drink something warm and cozy. Designed to hold ~275 ml (9.5 oz) comfortably.

About the artist: Luuk Ceramic Studio was founded by Büşra, a ceramic artist based in Latvia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Art and Sculpture.
Through her work with clay, an earth material, she deepens her connection to the world and to herself, a material that has held traces of touch, time, and memory for thousands of years, and this connection continues to shape her approach.
She creates vases, sculptural objects, and tableware using handbuilding techniques. A sense of movement and flow is central to her work, visible in soft transitions, curved lines, and balanced forms.
Her work is inspired by architecture, the textures and forms of nature, and fragments of her visual memory. She aims for her works to feel personal, thoughtful, and approachable, connecting people to both the material and the moment in which they were created.
