Gobbelino London & a Scourge of Pleasantries
Find a missing book. That was the job the woman in the Doc Martens gave us. Easy money, right?
Except the client’s actually a powerful sorcerer, and the book? It’s a Book of Power. A hungry one. One that wants to rip reality apart.
So now we’ve got one spectacularly displeased sorcerer, a hungry, still-missing book, a dentist with bad hygiene, and a neighbourhood having some reality issues to deal with.
Oh, and about 24 hours before we all get turned inside out.
We’ve totally got this.
…Right?
This is the first book in the complete, 7-book Gobbelino London, PI urban fantasy series, centred around the adventures of a mercenary feline PI and his human sidekick. It contains snarky cats and other gods, many bad jokes and terrible puns, plus a large serving of mythological and real creatures behaving badly. It will appeal to anyone who likes their fantasy funny, modern, and filled with friendship rather than romance - and also to those who suspect their cat may be living a great and secret life when they're not looking.
A Scourge of Pleasantries contains some violence, particularly toward furniture, but none of it is graphic. It contains no sex and only mild language. It does, however, contain blasphemy.

Cozy Pairings

Voodoo is a rich and inviting fragrance built around the depth of freshly brewed coffee, softened with the natural sweetness of sugar cane. Warm and slightly indulgent, this scent blends bold, roasted notes with a smooth, lingering sweetness that feels both energizing and comforting. Subtle and atmospheric, it carries a hint of something more, adding a layer of intrigue that makes the fragrance feel warm, familiar, and just a little bit magical.
Why we chose this: Gobbelino London is a mercenary feline private investigator, Callum is his long-suffering human sidekick, and together they have faced Books of Power, zombie chickens, the last unicorns in England, necromancers, weres, mermaids, and the end of the world, usually for less money than the job was worth. Voodoo carries the warm, slightly mysterious depth of a series where the magic is always stranger than expected and the friendship at its heart is the realest thing in it, rich and roasted with a hint of something that feels like a late night that keeps getting more interesting. It is the candle for every book in this series. Light this candle and let the warmth fill the room like a Yorkshire evening where Gobbelino is already plotting something inadvisable and Callum has just realized it is too late to stop him.
