Vaskel came to Wayside seeking to shed his adventuring past and be with old friends. But as snow covers the rooftops and strange things begin happening to him, he realizes his old life isn't quite done with him. Afraid of how this could threaten his peaceful new life, he turns to Iris, the village apothecary, who isn't the least bit fearful of the Hellkin or his fiendish nature.
As they work together to unravel the mystery threatening Vaskel and soon the entire village, something even sweeter than chai begins to simmer between them, despite their heavily guarded hearts. When the truth emerges, will Vaskel and Iris realize that being truly seen and loved might be the most powerful magic of all?
